Using Photos to Remember Your Honeymoon

Usually a couple will hire a professional photographer to take their all-important wedding photographs. However, when it comes to their honeymoon photos, people usually need to take all of those pictures themselves. This is such a special time to be sure that is captured on film. It is important to get perfect photos that can go into picture frames and decorate the walls of the new home that they are now going to share together. It doesn’t matter if the honeymoon is on a local secluded beach or in an exotic foreign land, the honeymoon will only happen once and it is important to get great photos to capture those memories.

Most of the time the honeymooner will not be able to get the same quality of photos that the seasoned photographer would get, but they can still use some suggestions and tips that will certainly give them pictures that they would be proud to display in picture frames. Follow the ideas below to ensure that your honeymoon photos will capture your beautiful memories and tell the story of the special time.

•The first order of business is to make sure that you know exactly how your own camera works. Take some practice shots before the honeymoon to be sure you like the finished pictures. And don’t forget that you need to take with you a battery charger and some extra memory cards.

•Take your pictures both with and without the flash, no matter if you are inside or outside. You might be surprised that one will often be remarkably better than the other.

•When you are using your flash, be aware of any mirrors or windows that are positioned behind your subject. If there are, the flash will create spots from the light bouncing back. If there are any reflective things behind your subject, try taking the shot from an angle.

•Take a lot of close-up shots. You can really impact your images if you get closer than you think you should.

•Make sure you are not too far away if you are taking shots of scenery. Choose a focal point to place in the middle of the distance, like a tree or a house.

•Make it a practice not to center your subject. Visually divide your photo into thirds, and place your subject into the left or the right third.

•Make sure that the sun is behind you, but you also need to make sure that the sun is not causing your subject to squint.

•To make sure that you end up with a fun variety, take your pictures in both a vertical and horizontal position.

•Make sure that you stand steady when you squeeze the shutter button. To keep from shaking your camera, squeeze it gently. You will find that your shots are better when the camera is held steady.

•Don’t ever be afraid to do some experimenting with the pictures that you take.

Don’t forget that you should try to get your pictures to tell a story. Start at the beginning of your trip with some shots, and make sure that you remember to take more throughout your journey. Take pictures no matter what activity you are involved in or what your location might be. Wrap up your vacation by taking some good-bye shots or shots of you unpacking at home. These are going to be a fun way to let your children see the story of how you began your life together. Finally, place some photos in decorative wood picture frames to always remember those cherished times.
